Sheets go up on walls and ceilings, cut around openings and fittings.
Tape and coat
Joints taped, corner bead set, then coats built up and sanded back between them.
Hand over ready for paint
You get a surface ready for primer. If we are painting it too, we carry straight on.
The spaces we board out
This work starts at a framed space and ends at a surface ready for primer. It is quoted from the framing and the ceiling heights, so a set of plans or a walk round tells us more than a description does.
Additions and new builds
Full rooms from the studs up, walls and ceilings, hung and finished as one piece of work rather than in stages behind other trades.
Finished basements
Basements set their own layout. Ceiling height, ductwork, steel, bulkheads and access all decide how the board falls before a single sheet is cut, and getting that wrong shows in every joint afterwards.
Gutted rooms
A room stripped back to the studs in a renovation, brought back to a paintable surface. Older framing is rarely flat, so the hanging allows for it rather than the finishing hiding it.
Ceilings
Ceilings are the slow half of any hang and they set how the walls meet them. They are also where a sagging or badly fixed sheet is most obvious once the light goes on.
The board the plan calls for
Moisture resistant board in wet rooms, and wherever the drawings specify a particular board, that is what gets hung. We do not substitute to save a delivery.
Working to a build schedule
On a builder or contractor job the hang date matters as much as the finish. We take the sequence from whoever is holding it and work to that rather than to our own convenience.
Stocking and access
Board has to get into the space before it can go on a wall. Access, floor clearance and where the stack can sit are worked out in advance, because a delivery that cannot get in costs a day.
Sanding and dust
Sanding is the dusty part and it happens before the trades behind us come back in. The space is cleaned down at the end rather than handed over full of it.
Handed over ready for primer
You get a surface that the next contractor can prime and paint without going back over it. That is the deliverable, and it is what the finish coats are built toward.

Common questions
Is this the same as drywall repair?
No. This is new board on a framed space, hung, taped and finished ready for paint. Patching an existing wall is drywall repair, which is a smaller job for a different buyer and is quoted separately.
Do you hang ceilings as well as walls?
Yes. Ceilings are the slow half of any hang and they set how the walls meet them, so they are planned first rather than fitted around what is left.
What do we get at handover?

Where the new board is going in
This work follows building rather than repainting. Middletown and Bear hold most of the new housing below the canal, and additions and finished basements follow a few years behind a build rather than with it.
In western Delaware County, Pennsylvania the large detached stock through Glen Mills, Concord Township and Garnet Valley is now old enough that basements are being finished and rooms added. Kennett Township and New Garden Township run the same pattern on the Chester County side, and the whole of New Castle County is inside the same working radius.
