Rated 5.0 stars on Google from 96+ reviews.
Newtown Square sits on the northern edge of Delaware County, where West Chester Pike meets Route 252, and most of it lies in Newtown Township. It is greener and more spread out than the rest of eastern Delco, with larger lots, a golf club, and school and corporate campuses set well back from the road.
The housing covers a long span of time. Stone farmhouses and older stone buildings survive on the original roads. Mid-century ranches and colonials fill the neighborhoods off the Pike. From the 1980s on, larger houses went up on wooded lots and in planned communities, many finished in stucco or cedar, with open stairwells and big decks off the back.

What we see on Newtown Square houses
Old stone a short walk from new stucco
A stone house from the 1700s can sit down the road from one built in the 1990s, and they need opposite things. The stone wants a finish that lets the wall breathe. The newer house wants a tough coating over its stucco or siding. The walk-round decides which approach each building gets.
Houses back in the trees
Many Newtown Square houses sit at the end of a long drive under heavy tree cover. North sides stay damp, gutters fill, and the siding near the ground grows a green film. That film is washed off and treated before painting, because paint laid over it lifts.
Big decks on the newer houses
Houses from the 1980s on often have a large raised deck off the kitchen, sometimes on two levels. Rails, balusters and stairs take most of the hours on a deck job, and a weathered deck is cleaned back to sound wood before new stain goes on.
Family rooms open to the second floor
Newer houses here often have a family room that rises through two stories and a stair climbing through the middle of the house. Painting those walls means planks and tall ladders inside a finished home, with floors and furniture covered first.
