House Painters in Drexel Hill, PA
Rated 5.0 stars on Google from 96+ reviews.
Drexel Hill is part of Upper Darby Township and one of the older streetcar suburbs in Delco. The 101 and 102 trolleys split at Drexel Hill Junction, and most of the neighborhood was laid out in the years when those lines made it practical to live here and work in the city.
Building ran hardest through the 1920s and 1930s, and it left a lot of period detail behind. Tudor-style twins and singles with steep gables, stucco and dark half-timbering stand beside stone colonials and brick rows. Many still carry slate roofs, and the streets climb and drop across hilly ground.

What we see on Drexel Hill houses
Half-timbering against stucco
The dark boards set into a Tudor gable are wood, and the seam where wood meets stucco is where water gets in. Boards are checked for soft spots and the seam is sealed before either surface is painted. The two materials move differently, so each gets a coating suited to it.
Trim high up under slate
Steep roofs and tall gable ends put the top trim a long way up, with no flat roof to stand on. Slate cracks underfoot, so ladders stand clear of it and the access gets planned around the roof rather than across it.
Houses set above the sidewalk
A lot of Drexel Hill houses sit up on a terrace, with steps and a retaining wall between the porch and the street. Setting ladders on a slope and working above a wall changes how the exterior is staged, and that is looked at before the proposal is written.
Plaster rooms and layered woodwork
Inside are plaster walls, arched doorways in many of them, and trim that has been painted many times since the 1920s. Cracks in old plaster are repaired with materials that suit it, and woodwork carrying several old coats is sanded and primed so the new finish does not chip away with the layers under it.
